Winner of the Transformative Impact in Healthcare Award
What do you do when the people who taught you everything start to forget? My father is fighting Parkinson's and early dementia. My mother manages diabetes and congestive heart failure. My three siblings and I are a team — a family armed with love but disarmed by the chaos of a dozen medications, forgotten instructions, and missed questions. We were losing the battle against complexity, and that feeling is where this story truly begins.
The seed for what would become Let's Talk Doc was planted six or seven years ago. My friend and partner, Diane Nguyen, and I saw the cracks in the system through our own eyes. I saw it in my parents' home, and she saw it as an immigrant facing the silent fear that a single misunderstood word on a form could alter her family's care. We tried to build something back then, a small solution born from our shared frustrations. But the technology wasn't ready. The idea was a spark, but we couldn't yet build the engine.
Years passed. Then, earlier this year, Diane reached out. The world had changed. Technology had finally caught up to our ambition. "It's time," she said. "Let's try again."
This is not a business venture for us. It’s a mission.
When we poured years of passion into a new prototype for a hackathon, we were met with a familiar wall of skepticism. "Healthcare is hard to get into," they told us, citing vague concerns about regulations and data. They saw a demo; they missed the decade of life experience that built it. They didn't see the son fighting for his parents' clarity or the woman building the tool she had always needed. Their rejection wasn't a lesson; it was a reminder that if you want to fix a problem no one else understands, you can't wait for permission.
We didn't need their criticism to focus us; our families' needs had already done that.
When we saw the HL7 AI Challenge, it felt like coming home to a community that understood the architecture of change. We rebuilt our platform, channeling every lesson learned into a mobile, smarter, and more intuitive tool. Winning the Transformative Impact in Healthcare Award wasn't just a victory. It was vindication. It was proof that our story was, in fact, a universal one.
Let's Talk Doc: Technology Born from Empathy
Our app, Let's Talk Doc, was designed to fight chaos with clarity. Built on the HL7 Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR®) standard and SMART on FHIR integration, it connects directly to your existing health records which means no manual data entry and no outdated information. It's about giving control back to patients and families.
For families managing complex care, it transforms scattered medical records into a unified, understandable view. Lab results, clinical notes, medications, allergies are all pulled directly from your EHR and presented in plain language. It's a tool built to turn confusion into confidence, so families can stop managing chaos and start managing care.
For patients who struggle with medical forms, it eliminates the burden of repetitive paperwork. Our intelligent form pre-filling automatically populates intake forms with your existing health data —demographics, medications, conditions, allergies — all sourced directly from your medical records. No more forgetting critical details. Your story is told accurately from the very first click.

For everyone who feels a step behind, our AI-powered video assistant guides you through complex medical questionnaires conversationally. It asks the right questions, understands your answers, and ensures nothing gets lost in translation. You have a personal health advocate in your pocket.

For families separated by distance, secure family sharing lets loved ones stay connected to care. With granular permission controls including full access, limited access, or emergency-only, you decide who sees what. Family members can help manage appointments, review test results, and coordinate care, all while maintaining your privacy and control.

This Is Just the Beginning
Our journey wasn't born in a boardroom. It was born at the kitchen table, in the waiting room, and in the quiet moments of worry for the people we love. It was born from a sense of duty.
Now, our personal mission has found itself at the center of a national movement. The administration's recently announced "I Pledge" initiative, with its clear mandate to promote conversational AI and "kill the clipboard," is a powerful validation of our approach. We built Let's Talk Doc because we saw the need firsthand, and it just so happens that our solution directly answers this national call to action. This isn't luck; it's proof that we were solving the right problem all along.
The HL7 award is an incredible honor, but our real measure of success will be the millions of people who no longer feel lost in a system meant to serve them. We started this because we believed in a better way, and we are just getting started.
