Early Bird Registration Ends Soon
Time is running out to take advantage of early bird registration discounts for an upcoming three-day online educational event that will offer practical insights on how to implement Health Level Seven's (HL7®) Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR®) application program interfaces (APIs).
Early bird discounts end March 31 for the event, “Strategy to Execution: Better Prior Authorization by Integrating Operations, FHIR and CMS-0057.”
Two days of interactive content delivery and demonstrations will be followed by a collaborative Connectathon testing event on day three that will provide implementers and developers with the opportunity to test FHIR-based solutions and exchange data with other FHIR interfaces.
If you’re looking to fast-track your organization’s efforts to use HL7 FHIR APIs to automate workflow, maximize efficiency and meet federal requirements of the CMS Interoperability and Prior Authorization Final Rule (CMS-0057-F), then don’t miss this virtual, hands-on training and testing event.
“By organizing this event, the Da Vinci Project continues to support both member and industry education needs and testing events to help organizations with their adoption of FHIR APIs as a strategic asset,” says Alix Goss, HL7 Da Vinci Project program manager and senior consultant with Point-of-Care-Partners.
Three Tracks
The online event will feature three tracks tailored to meet the diverse needs of various stakeholders. The tracks include:
- A one-day Business Track
- A two-day Payer Data Exchange Technical Track
- A two-day Burden Reduction Technical Track.
"We decided to offer three tracks to help ensure we meet the needs of everyone involved in rolling out FHIR implementation, from business executives and analysts to technical team members,” Goss says.

Business Track
The April 22 business track will provide non-technical team members with insights on essential steps to take when launching a FHIR implementation effort. Sessions include:
- “Unlocking Strategic Opportunities: ROI of Automation with FHIR in Healthcare”
- “Harnessing Da Vinci Implementation Guides to Meet CMS-0057: Success Stories and Strategic Insights”
- “Empowering Your Implementation: Essential Tools and Resources for Successful Piloting”
- In addition, two panels of early adopters will provide insights into Payer Data Exchange (PDex) and Burden Reduction implementations.
“The business track is designed to give teams at provider and payer organizations an update on important lessons learned by those who’ve already deployed FHIR-based workflow capabilities,” Goss says. “This will help them create a guide path designing their implementation project to increase automation, and gain operational workflow efficiencies and improve value-based care approaches.”
In addition to learning the benefits and strategic value of implementation, all attendees at this groundbreaking online event will gain the core knowledge necessary to implement the FHIR Implementation Guides identified in the CMS Final Rule, specifically those for prior authorization, payer data exchange, and provider and patient access APIs.
Content will be provided directly by implementers and FHIR IG authors who’ll bring real-world experience and help you:
- Discover what you need to know from a business or technical perspective as you embark on your implementation journey and identify the critical questions you should be asking
- Learn about key considerations when planning your implementation strategy, supporting a smooth and effective process
- Identify real-world success stories, including the challenges and lessons learned along the way
- Explore various approaches to scalability and the market options available to enhance your implementation efforts
- Understand how to bring the technical components together for successful and scalable implementation.
- Identify resources to aid your implementation efforts, including how to jumpstart your matchmaking for finding partners through participation in testing events
Time to Get Ready
Both Da Vinci and HL7 members qualify for a member-discounted registration rate. Those Da Vinci members who are not HL7 members should send an email to meetings@HL7.org to receive a coupon code which will allow them to access the membership rates during registration.
To maximize your experience and advance your implementation, additional educational offerings covering core FHIR technologies and Implementation Guides referenced in CMS-0057-F are available at https://info.hl7.org/da-vinci-subscription.
Da Vinci encourages providers, payers and vendor organizations to have teams attend the April event because it offers content that will prove beneficial not just to technical staff, but also to executives, managers and analysts. The collective learning will help accelerate implementation efforts within their organizations.
