Monthly Event is Scheduled for 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday, March 24, 2021

Advancing the use of HL7’s Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR®) takes both strong proponents advocating for the cause and pioneering organizations that lead the industry by putting concepts into practice.

Both aspects important to FHIR adoption will be on display at the March Community Roundtable of the Da Vinci Project, scheduled for Wednesday, March 24, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. ET. The roundtable has become a staple of the Da Vinci Project’s efforts to highlight successful deployments of its implementation guides, intended to help healthcare organizations manage value-based care initiatives.

MiHIN Shares Lessons Learned with Plan-Net

An example of a real-world implementation will be provided by the Michigan Health Information Network (MiHIN). A team from the organization will share lessons learned from its deployment of Plan-Net, the Payer Data Exchange (PDex)-Plan Network Directory Implementation Guide that focuses on Payer-Provider Directories. FHIR offers the potential to automate this typically manually intensive process for all parties, and MiHIN will describe its journey to putting the implementation guide into place to achieve this.

The Da Vinci Community Champions

Also during this Roundtable, the Da Vinci Project will recognize its 2020 Da Vinci Community Champions. These six individuals have provided leadership and support in order to advance the project’s implementation guides. The individuals selected for this honor exemplify new, diverse talent that can bring fresh perspectives to take on future interoperability challenges and opportunities.

Those selected as Champions include the following individuals:

Da Vinci Education & HL7® FHIR® Implementation Event

Finally, the Roundtable will offer a sneak peak of the Da Vinci Education & HL7® FHIR® Implementation Event, slated for April 26 through 30.  With national speakers starting the week, the schedule will enable attendees – ranging from FHIR novices to expert implementers – to attend the full week or only the days that best fit their learning objectives, with the ability to customize an agenda based on familiarity and expertise with the subject matter.

Goals for the April event include:

  • Educating the health IT community about HL7 FHIR, FHIR implementation guides developed by the Da Vinci Project and the CARIN Alliance, and real-world uses.
  • Helping participants prepare to meet new federal rules on information sharing.
  • Linking providers, payers and partners with the growing collaborative FHIR community and helping them access free and open resources

About the Community Roundtable

The goal of the Da Vinci Project’s community roundtables is to increase public awareness among payers, providers and vendors of the resources and progress coming out of Da Vinci’s efforts. These 90-minute virtual sessions are open to Da Vinci members and the public and highlight how members leverage the Da Vinci use cases and implementation guides in action in workflow.

Typically, two or three organizations showcase their work and answer audience questions, allowing for a vibrant discussion and fostering industry understanding of the Da Vinci work products and resulting market solutions. Sessions are recorded and available online after the event.
