Three use cases will be in the spotlight as the HL7 Da Vinci Project hosts its regular monthly community roundtable from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday, May 27.
The session will demonstrate how organizations are using the Da Vinci Project implementation guides to streamline the exchange of information between payers and providers.
The event, “Learn How Cambia Health Solutions, HealthSparq and United are Using Da Vinci Specifications to Advance Value-Based Care,” will look at ways that HL7 Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR®) can be used to achieve quality measurement, provider search and lab results integration into EMRs.
Da Vinci Project Medication Reconciliation: From Pitch to Production
Kirk Anderson, vice president and chief technology officer of Cambia Health Solutions, will give a presentation that illustrates a real-world story about the implementation of Da Vinci’s Data Exchange for Quality Measures’ Medication Reconciliation. This use case defines the process by which MRP Measure data can be exchanged between a provider, acting in the role of the producer, to a payer, which is acting in the role of the consumer.
Building a Solid Foundation for the Provider Directory API
Health plans have been making their provider data available to members in online, searchable directories for years. New interoperability rules open up new use cases with the FHIR standard. Plans need to consider the needs around infrastructure, scalability and data quality by making provider data available via API. This session offers insights on how to prepare for possible gaps between how health plans manage provider data internally today and meeting interoperability requirements. Keith LoMurray, director of data products and analytics at HealthSparq, will share insights about the opportunity, building infrastructure that supports scale and mitigating risk from data quality issues.
EMR Integration Service Layer (EISL) Lab Chase Service (LCS)
Payers need to obtain lab results data about their members. Historically, every lab vendor has had their own proprietary API for payers to retrieve that data. Working with major national lab vendors, United has leveraged the Da Vinci CDex use case to standardize those interactions and reduce the burden on both sides, which accelerates the process of closing care quality gaps. Additional lab vendors can be easily added, reducing interoperability costs. Presenters include Nick Radov, director of interoperability standards and compliance, and Sumit Lahiri, architect of clinical data exchange and Interoperability for UnitedHealth Group.

About the Community Roundtable
The goal of the new Community Roundtable series is to increase public awareness among payers, providers and vendors of the resources and progress of the Da Vinci Project’s efforts. These events are:
Typically, two or three organizations showcase their work and answer audience questions, allowing for a vibrant discussion and fostering industry understanding of the Da Vinci work products and resulting market solutions. Sessions are recorded and available online after the event. Please invite your colleagues and partners to join us!
