Upcoming Da Vinci Community Roundtable on April 29 at 4:00 pm ET

The momentum for healthcare interoperability continues to accelerate. Following the CMS-0057-F final rule, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) have introduced its next major regulatory step: the 2026 Interoperability Standards and Prior Authorization for Drugs Proposed Rule (CMS-0062-P).

Join the HL7 Da Vinci Project for the April Community Roundtable happening on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at 4 p.m. ET as we break down this new proposal and discuss its implications for HL7 Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources® (FHIR®) implementation and the industry at large. The new proposed rule relies heavily on the work of the HL7 Da Vinci Project community and could bring significant changes for industry, including adding Da Vinci implementation guides to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) requirements.

Building on a Foundation of CMS Interoperability Standards

This latest proposal isn't an isolated event, but a response to the rising pressures facing modern healthcare delivery. It is the next chapter in a multi-year federal effort to streamline the healthcare experience through standardized healthcare APIs, building directly upon the foundations of:

While previous rules focused heavily on medical services, CMS-0062-P shifts the spotlight to pharmacy. It proposes extending the suite of interoperability APIs, including Patient Access, Provider Access and Prior Authorization APIs to cover drugs. The goal is to reduce the administrative friction that often delays patient access to life-sustaining medications.

April’s roundtable will provide the strategic insights needed to navigate these changes. Our speakers will break down the operational, technical and policy shifts on the table, helping you understand the direct impact on prior authorization (PA) workflows. Key discussion points will include:

  • A Summary of CMS-0062-P: What exactly is being proposed for drug prior authorization and the addition of HL7 FHIR and Da Vinci implementation guides to HIPAA
  • Why It Matters for Da Vinci: We will highlight specific areas where this rule intersects with current Da Vinci Implementation Guides (IGs) and technical work
  • How You Can Make Your Voice Heard: We will share how you can submit comments, either as an individual organization or by contributing to the HL7 Da Vinci Project’s collective community response
